A Report on Universal Brotherhood Day celebration
Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV), Yingkiong on 11th September,Thursday celebrated the Universal Brotherhood Day which marks the commemoration of Swami Vivekananda's famous speech delivered on September 11, 1893 in Chicago to the delegates of the World Parliament of Religions. The speech is popularly remembered for its opening words "Sisters and Brothers of America", which depicts the great Vedantic strength of India.
He discarded the idea of religious supremacy and propagated a message of not only mutual tolerance but also religious acceptance, while critically defining both and differentiating between the two as well. The programme was graced by noted doctor and Arun joyti Karyakarta Shri. Nabho boring and Smt. Gebi Mitkong Jamoh as Chief Guest.
Programme was started by chanting three Om Karas and Om-Sahanabhatu, which was followed by lighting the lamp.Then welcome address by Principal VKV Yingkiong Shri. Sumithran K.
He highlighted the need for universal brotherhood in present day global scenario. Citing the famous speech of Swami Vivekananda at The World Parliament of Religions 127 years ago, impressed upon the need for looking at Universal brotherhood from a holistic perspective including the poor and vulnerable sections of the society instead of limiting it only to religion and communities. Throwing light on the relevance and usefulness of Swamiji’s speech and values in the present-day context, he underscored the need for universal brotherhood to maintain peace and all-round development of human race irrespective of their religion. He also mentioned that, this is the 50th year of glorious Vivekananda Rock Memorial and for which Sampark programme was started earlier and as soon as we get necessary approval, we will start the celebration for that.

Today VKV Yingkiong participated in the Arunachal Pradesh 34th Statehood Day celebration organized by Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh in the General Ground of Yingkiong, Upper Siang District on 20th February 2020. On the occasion of this statehood day, children of VKV Yingkiong participated in three different programs i.e. national anthem, traditional dance and band troupe. All the students participated in the programs with enthusiasm. VKV Yingkiong got the 1st prize in the traditional dance. The school also installed an exhibition stall depicting the life story of Swami Vivekananda.
VKV Yingkiong celebrated the 71st Republic Day of India on 26th January, 2020 in a grand manner. The day was celebrated through various events with the active participation of the students and teachers. The day started with a “Prabhat Pheri at 6:00 am sharp and it covered some area of Yingkiong town. It was followed by the unfurling of the tri-colour Indian national flag by Sri Madan Kumar Sarkar, the principal of the school at 7: 00 am. Then he gave a valuable speech on the importance of the day. He said all the students should give respect to the constitution of India. He also urged all to be honest, work hard and develop a leadership quality to become a good citizen of India. It was followed by a patriotic song sung by three class X girls students. On the very day school Band Troup(girls) and March Past Troup took part in the celebration program of The Govt. Higher Secondary School , Yingkiong. Having pleased with their wonderful performance , the Principal of the school(GHSS Yingkiong) awarded some prizes to both the troups. Both the Band Troup(girls) and the March Past Troup also took part in the ceremonial program of Republic Day which was conducted in the general at Yingkiong by the district administration of the of the Upper Siang District , Yingkiong. Moreover, a group of small boys and girls also participared in it and they performed Mallakhamb where they exhibited many aerial yoga postures and wrestling grips in concert with a vertical stationary rope.
Today VKV Yingkiong showed the live telecast program Pariksha Pe Charcha which was conducted by HRD Ministry in New Delhi from 11 am onwards on 20th Jan. 2020. Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal, HRD Minister introduced the program and welcomed all the participants whoever attended the program from various corner of the country. Students from class V to X participated in the program very actively. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was Chief Speaker of the program. Students asked various problematic questions related to exam and the Prime Minister answered very lucidly by sharing his personal experience.Students were greatly helped by the valuable guide and advice given by the PM.
Today 73rd Independence Day of India was celebrated with pump and Grandeur at VKV, Yingkiong, Upper Siang District on 15th August (Thursday) 2019. At the same time Raksha Bandhan was also celebrated in the school. The day was started with a procession by the students and teachers early in the morning and it was followed by the hoisting of National Flag by Shri Madan Kr. Sarkar, the principal of the institution at 7am sharp at school premises in presence of all the teachers and around 400 students. It was followed by singing the national anthem “Jana Gana Mana…” tuned by the music of the girls band troupe of the school. Then the principal delivered his valuable speech on the importance of both the days ( 73rd Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan) and asked all the students to have patriotic feeling and show respect towards our country. Km. Nui Nopi, a student of class IX anchored the whole programme. A patriotic song was presented by three class girls students. Then sweets are distributed among the children and at the same time all the girls tied their brothers Rakhi.

Today the 5th International Yoga Day was celebrated in VKV Yingkiong on 21st June 2019. The Principal started the programme with delivering a short speech on the importance of the day. The students from class IV to X took part in different Yogic postures as per the teacher’s instructions. At school level the programme started at 6am. Then all the students were taken to the New Multipurpose Community Hall Yingkiong. There they took part in Yoga Asanas Organised by District Health Society (AYUSH) Yingkiong. Shri Karma Leki, Deputy Commissioner of Upper Siang District as well as many other dignitaries of different Govt Dept. also attended in the programme. It was a one hour programme i.e., from 7 am to 8 am. Finally the programme ended successfully at 8 am.

Varsharambha Puja was conducted in the beginning of the academic session 2019-20 to start the session with hope and prosperity at VKV, Yingkiong on 20th may 2019. The program was started at 9:10 am and continued upto 10 am. It took place in the school prayer hall. The Puja started with three ‘Om’ karas and shanty mantras. It was followed by chanting of Saraswati bandana and mantras with their lucid explanation done by Bikash Sahu Sir. Then Kendra Prarthana lead by Bikash Sahu Sir was sung by all the students and teachers. Lastly, the programme was ended with the valuable speech of Madan Sarkar Sir, the principal of the school.
