Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Roing, celebrated Shri Krishna Janmashtami with devotion, joy, and creativity. The celebration was held in a different and unique manner this year, which made the occasion more memorable for everyone.
1.    Morning Celebration – Dahi Handi Competition (Pot Braking Competition)
After the morning prayer, all six ganas of hostel students gathered on the school ground for the Dahi Handi (Pot Breaking Competition). The pot was tied high above 15 feet, and each gana prepared its plan under the guidance of its gana pramukh and gana adhikari.
With great enthusiasm and team spirit, the students made human pyramids to reach the pot. Their unity, courage, and coordination were visible. Finally, the pot was broken successfully, and the ground echoed with cheers and joy.
The event was conducted smoothly and safely. It was a new and exciting experience for the hostel students, and everyone enjoyed the festive spirit.
2.    Evening Celebration – Temple Making & Krishna Bhajan
In the evening, the celebration continued with Hostel-wise Temple Making and Krishna Bhajan Competitions. All six hostels actively participated in the programme. With the guidance of their hostel in-charges, students used available resources to design beautiful temples. Each temple reflected the creativity, devotion, and teamwork of the hostel groups.
Along with temple making, students also presented melodious Krishna Bhajans. The soulful singing filled the atmosphere with devotion and joy, making everyone feel the divine presence of Lord Krishna.
The Principal, along with a team of teachers, supervised the activities. The nominated judges examined the temples and evaluated the Bhajan presentations.
The day-long Janmashtami celebration at VKV Roing not only reminded everyone of the divine childhood of Lord Krishna but also helped students learn the values of teamwork, discipline, creativity, and devotion. With the participation of all 180 hostel students and residential staff, the celebration became a true festival of joy, unity, and spirituality.
