Awareness Campaign on POCSO Act
An Awareness Campaign on POCSO Act, Domestic Violence, Crime against Women and Child Delinquency conducted by VKV Koloriang & Kurung Kumey Police on 4th February 2017 at VKV Koloriang
Number of Participants: 150 (students of VKV(103) and Govt. H.S school (25), teachers(7), Police personnel(15))
Resource Person: Shri Mihin Gambo, SP Koloriang, Smti T W Thungon, Dy. Director (ICDS) Koloriang, Shri Kakit Duggong, Dy. SP HQ Koloriang.
The programme started with the welcome addressed & felicitation of the resource person.
First session was taken by Shri Mihin Gambo with the introduction of the campaign, aim of Police department and its relation with the society. He appealed everyone to maintain peace and tranquillity in the society. He said,” Aware and avoid crime”.
Smti T.W Thungon began with definition of children, right of children in UNO, National commission for right of the children and then defined the POCSO Act, Domestic violence, Crime against women. She very meticulously explained the topics by putting some day today crimes in our society. She raised and explained the topics like youth and alcohol, child labour, child and women exploitation, child abuse, child sexual violence, and child marriage. She encouraged getting aware and standing against of those crimes. She also gave the details of agencies where the report can be made against such crimes. She also explained Khoya Paya programme and gave the toll free helpline no1098.
Shri Kakit Duggong made the programme more interesting by explaining the remaining topic child delinquency. He explained the topic by putting different examples.
All present in the programme thoroughly listened and understood the topics.
There was also a session on the topic general subject related to policing. Principal VKV Koloriang took initiative and discussed the topic with the participants &distinguish resource persons.
After the tea break, there was a session of interaction. The session was full with queries. Participants actively asked about the different crimes, measures to prevent them and punishments to the culprits. Looking at the active participation of students, resource person promised to conduct such programme again in future for more discussion. The Programme concluded with the vote of thanks by Shri Kakit Duggon, Dy. S.P HQ Koloriang.
