
National Youth Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, was celebrated with great enthusiasm on 12 January 2026 at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV), Longding, marking the successful culmination of Samarth Bharat Parva. The programme witnessed active participation from students, staff members, and the local community.
Samarth Bharat Parva was inaugurated on 25 December 2025 and formally commenced with students on 26 December 2025 during the morning assembly. The Parva was observed over a period of 25 December 2025 to 12 January 2026, during which a wide range of academic, cultural, devotional, and outreach activities were conducted.
Throughout the observance period, daily morning assemblies were organized with theme-based speeches delivered by teachers and prepared students. The themes focused on India’s rich contributions to the world, including Yoga, Indian languages, mathematics, science, history, literature, space science, medicine and Ayurveda, architecture, sports, the Bhagavad Gita, Swami Vivekananda, and the activities of Vivekananda Kendra. Each assembly began with the patriotic singing of “Vande Mataram” and the Swadesh Mantra. In the evenings, teachers regularly performed Bharat Mata Aarti, creating a devotional atmosphere and strengthening national consciousness among students.
As an integral component of Samarth Bharat Parva, four outreach programmes were organized to spread the message of Swami Vivekananda and to create awareness among the youth. The details are as follows:

The total outreach audience numbered 119. These programmes were organized by a three-member organizing team with the active involvement of five VKV alumni. The Chief Guests appreciated VKV’s initiative in spreading the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and inspiring the youth.
The National Youth Day celebration on 12 January 2026 was held at the Vidyalaya campus with a total attendance of 440. The programme began with an invocation prayer by Class VI students, followed by the lighting of the lamp by the Chief Guest, Special Guest, and other dignitaries under the guidance of the Principal. A welcome dance was presented, followed by the welcome address by the Principal and the felicitation of guests.
The cultural programme included a Swami Vivekananda song, Swadesh Mantra, group dances, drama, action dance, patriotic song, and traditional dances, presented by students of various classes. The significance of the day was highlighted by Sri Sanwang Wangsa Ji, Prant Prakalp Arunjyoti.
A Prize Distribution Ceremony was conducted to honour proficiency prize winners and achievers of the Prajnya Vikas Written Test at both state and school levels. In his address, the Chief Guest emphasized the importance of discipline, responsibility towards parents and society, learning from failures, avoiding harmful habits, and the vital role of teachers and parents in guiding students.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks followed by the Shanti Mantra.
Overall, the observance of Samarth Bharat Parva, along with daily assemblies, outreach programmes, and the celebration of National Youth Day, significantly strengthened national consciousness, cultural pride, and awareness of Swami Vivekananda’s ideals among students and the community.
