A solemn Shraddhanjali Gathering was organised by Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Basar, and VK Arunjyoti to pay tribute to Ma. Balakrishnaji and Late Toli Zirdo Ji, remembering their inspiring lives, ideals, and contributions.

The programme began with three Omkars and Shanti Paath, followed by a devotional Geet presented by VKV students. Shri Toium Zirdo Ji, Nagar Sanyojak, spoke on the purpose of the gathering and highlighted the contributions of the departed personalities.

The gathering included Geeta Atmashanti Shloka chanting led by Shri Dipankar Sarkar, followed by heartfelt Shraddhanjali speeches by dignitaries and members. The programme concluded with eleven chants of “Sri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram,” Pushpanjali, and the Shanti Mantra.

The gathering was conducted in a peaceful and dignified atmosphere, offering everyone an opportunity to remember, honour, and draw inspiration from the noble lives of Ma. Balakrishnaji and Late Toli Zirdo Ji.

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Basar, actively participated in the Tiranga Yatra organised under the direction of the Deputy Commissioner, Basar, on 13th August 2026.

Students of Classes IV to VIII, along with their teachers, gathered at the DC Office before 7:00 a.m. and participated in the procession with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit.

Proudly carrying the National Flag, the students marched from the DC Office to Todak Basar Stadium, showcasing discipline, unity and love for the nation. The Yatra instilled in them a deeper sense of patriotism and respect for the Tiranga.

The enthusiastic participation of the students and teachers made the event a meaningful and memorable celebration of national pride. 🇮🇳

Theme: Traditional Knowledge and Modern Science: Bridging the Past and the Future

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Basar, successfully organized the School Level Science Seminar on 06 July 2026. Students from Classes VI to VIII enthusiastically participated and presented on a variety of topics related to the seminar theme.

The participants highlighted the significance of indigenous knowledge, medicinal plants, sustainable living, environmental conservation, and the role of modern science in preserving, validating, and advancing traditional knowledge. Each student delivered their presentation with confidence, demonstrating a clear understanding of the subject and an appreciation of the relevance of traditional wisdom in today's scientific world.

Following each presentation, the panel of judges engaged the participants with thoughtful and relevant questions. The students responded confidently and effectively, making the session both interactive and intellectually stimulating. The judges appreciated the participants' sincere efforts and encouraged them to continue nurturing their scientific temperament while respecting and preserving India's rich traditional knowledge systems.

The seminar provided an excellent platform for students to enhance their scientific thinking, communication skills, and appreciation of the harmonious relationship between traditional wisdom and modern scientific advancements.

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Basar celebrated National Mathematics Day in the school assembly with great enthusiasm. The programme began with an address by Km. Unni Doyom, who explained the significance of the day and highlighted the contributions of the great mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
Km. Simrit Acharya confidently recited multiplication tables up to 20, showcasing strong numerical skills, while Km. Niyomi Jini mesmerized everyone with a beautiful poem related to mathematics.
Adding pride to the occasion, our school secured 1st position at the district-level art competition on Srinivasa Ramanujan, won by Km. Gonya Riba of Class VIII. The celebration successfully promoted interest and appreciation for mathematics among students.

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Basar, celebrated National Unity Day on 31st October 2025 with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. The programme aimed to promote the message of unity, integrity, and security among the students and staff.
The celebration began with the unity pledge, where all students and teachers took an oath to preserve the unity and integrity of the nation.
The significance of the day was beautifully delivered by Kr. Don Gusar of Class VIII, who highlighted the life, vision, and contribution of Sardar Patel in uniting India. He emphasized the importance of staying united and working together for the progress of the nation.
The celebration successfully reminded everyone of the strength that lies in unity and the responsibility of every citizen to contribute towards building a strong and united India.

The school-level National Children’s Science Congress was successfully organized in Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Basar, with great enthusiasm and active participation of students.
 The program commenced with the chanting of 3 Omkara followed by Sahana Vavatu, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere. Thereafter, Sri Kapil Bhagat addressed the gathering with an inspiring speech highlighting the importance of the program in nurturing scientific temperament, creativity, and innovation among students.
  Following this, the children delivered their presentation on various scientific themes, showcasing their research, creativity, problem-solving skills, awareness of local issues, and innovative ideas for sustainable development.
  The judging panel carefully evaluated each presentation, and marks were awarded on the basis of originality, scientific approach, presentation skills, and relevance of the topic. Based on the scores, the winner was selected to represent the school at the district-level competition.

On 29th Aug 2025, our school, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Basar had observed ‘National Sports Day’ in the school premises Km. Nyarik Bam student of class VII, gave a speech on the day by highlighting the objective of the day we celebrate National Sports Day to commemorate the birth of hockey Legend Major Dhyan Chand, and highlighting the importance of sports and fitness in our daily life.
 Before the commencement of the game, all the students and teachers took a sports Oath led by Sri Veera Balaji R, pledging to uphold the true spirit of sportsmanship and fair play.
 Various fun activities were conducted for the students of different classes. For classes 1 to 5, games like musical chairs and shoe lace tying were organized, which created excitement and joy among the younger children. For classes 6 to 8, competitive events such as Relay race, water filling, and the traditional local Galo game Nyarka Hinam were held. The students participated actively and showcased their sporting spirit.
 At the end of the program, a prize distribution ceremony was organized. The winners of different events were honored with prizes, which were distributed by two parents and our principal sir. The celebration not only brought out the talent of the

Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Basar celebrated the 79th Independence Day with great patriotic spirit and enthusiasm. The programme commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony by our respected Principal, followed by the National Anthem. Soon after, an ITBP Major visited the school and delivered a motivational speech, encouraging students to remain disciplined, responsible, and devoted to the nation.
 As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, students and staff actively participated by displaying the National Flag in their homes, spreading the message of unity and pride in our national identity.
Post the school programme, our students participated in the Independence Day celebrations at Todak Memorial General Field. Both boys and girls proudly took part in the parade, representing the school with discipline and honour. As part of the cultural events, the students of Class 5 presented a meaningful skit on the theme “Nasha Mukt Bharat”, creating awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
Our school secured 3rd prize in the parade and 2nd prize in the skit competition, bringing pride to the entire VKV Basar family. The celebration instilled a strong sense of patriotism among students and staff, inspiring everyone to contribute towards the progress and well-being of the nation.
