National Youth Day was celebrated at VKV Sher in a befitting manner with almost all the parents and the students attending the event. The celebration was graced by Sri.Pema Norbu Thongchi the Special Secretary in the State Assembly who is also an alumnus of VKV Shergaon as its Chief Guest and Sri.Urgen Tenzing another alumnus of VKV Shergaon as its Special Guest. Unlike the previous years, this year the event was conducted in the basketball field. Different cultural activities by the students were part of the celebration.
The Principal In-Charge of the school Sri.M.R.Lalu welcomed the audience to the auspicious occasion of the birthday celebrations of Swami Vivekananda. In his address he urged the parents to wholeheartedly cooperate with the school management in its efforts to bring about maximum positive changes among their children. He accentuated the need of emulating the values that our ancestors have left behind and the importance of leading the younger generation to a meaningful life in a world wherein the youth get frequently dragged towards perilous western styles and thoughts. He was candid expressing his view on the role of parents and teachers in making the life of every single child.
Sri.Raju Mishra, a Techer of the Vidyalaya spoke on the importance of the day with an elaboration on Swamiji’s life.
The Chief Guest spoke extensively on issues that the present generation faces and the strategies that could work wonders with regard to give them proper guidance. He spoke about what not to do in a student’s life than focusing on what to do. Taking instances from his life, the Chief Guest could create lasting impressions among the parents and students as whatever he spoke reflected the truth of life. He was kind enough to visit the hostels and new school buildings. He became nostalgic throwing his memories back to his VKV days as he sat for the lunch with the teaching community here.
