The Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalayas organizes various programmes for the all-round development of the children. Among these one of the most important programme is Sadgamaya Shibir meant for Class-VII, Dayscholars of VKV – Kharsang, government schools, and other private schools.

VKV-Kharsang organized a 3 days residential camp from 24th Oct to 26th Oct 2018. The total numbers of camp participants were 36 from various schools of Miao sub-division.

On the first day students reported in school at 2 p.m. and the registration was done from 2 p.m to 3:00 p.m. After making all the self cleaning all the participants they reported in the prayer hall at 3.30 pm. Then, the Shibir Coordinator, Sri Putul Dutta briefed the aims and objectives of the camp to the participants. After this there was an Ice-breaking session, where participants introduced themselves and groups were formed.

At 3.40 p.m., the inaugural programme was conducted and it presided by Shri B.B.Gupta , CRC of Kharsang as a Chief Guest. He has the initiatives of VKVs for moulding the students of government schools.

“Never give up.” It’s probably one of the most cliché phrases we all hear when we’re building our career. We know believing that is easier said than done, Smt. Meera Gohain Saikia collected some incidents of famous personalities who inspired us, including Swami Vivekananda, Sarah Jessica Parker, Eknath ji, Gandhi Ji, and etc., this dynamic session was followed by Bhajan Sandhya. The prayer session was started at 6 pm with three Om-karas followed by Om- bhadrangKarnevi, 3 Bhajans and Kendra prayer.

Vivekanada Kendra Vidyalaya-Kharsang celebrated Universal Brotherhood Day on 11th September’2018 at Govt. Primary School,New Khimyang Village. The objective of observation of Universal Brotherhood Day outside the school premise was to inculcate the ideals of Swami Vivekananda among the villagers and making them aware of man making and nation building mission of our Kendra. It was praise worthy that the villagers of New Khimyang have shown their high interest to organize this programme.

The programme was initiated  with the lighting of the lamp by the chief guest Sri M.Tali, Divisional Forest Range Officer, Namphai-I, along with Guru Bandana recited by the students of Govt Primary School, New Khimyang.

Sri Rebo Rekhung Ex-ASM of New Khimyang welcomed the august gathering and highlighted Swami Vivekananda as Cultural Ambassador of India.

The Chicago speech was presented by Class-VI student Km. Wangbom D Lowang ,which thrilled the gathering.

Alumni of VKV and HM, I/C of Govt. Primary School,New Khimyang Sri Songlang Shongkho  highlighted importance of the day . He has also translated his speech to the local dialect also for better or easy understanding of local gatherings.

On dated : 21st  June 2018, ‘International Day of Yoga’ is celebrated in full spirit and enthusiasm. To make this day remarkable the whole school had done the preparation from 11th June 2018, onwards. With the support of Governmental staff and public leaders of Kharsang, we could conducted the programme by including two schools with us in the community hall of Kharsang administration. The total number of 152 participants attended the programme out of which 42 girls, 80 boys and 30 staff members of government departments and public leaders has attended the programme

At 6.45 am., all the students, government officials and teachers of various schools reached the venue. Shri Ranjan Kr Chaudhury, Teacher of VKV-Kharsang was the main instructor with the hostellers of class-X of our School. The one hour programme was appreciated by all and thanked VKVIANS for their support and cooperation.

At 9.30 a.m., for the school level programme, all 415 students are gathered in the New Dining Hall building of our school. The whole programme was organised by the students of Class-X. The selected students of Class-X delivered the welcome address which was followed by the speech on “Benefits of YOGA”. After this , Yoga session was taken by Kr. Kuplang Khimun of Class-X as per the guidelines given to him.

Lastly , Principal, VKV-Kharsang expressed his gratitude towards the senior students and staff for conducting the programme in a grand manner. At 11.00 am., Shanti Mantra was chanted by all to conclude this historic event.

All the students of Class-I and V have participated and all their parents were present with 100% attendance.

Library week was observed in our school with effect from 19th November to 25th November’2017 with the participation of the students and teachers.

We are very fortunate enough that this Library week started on the Day of Sadhana Divas the birth day of Mananeeya Eknathji Ranade.

In his inaugural speech Principal Sri Shyamal Chakraborty highlighted the importance of the day as well as he declared the Library Week and motivated all the students to take the benefit of this week. After the speech teachers and the students offered flowers at the feet of Mananeeya Eknathji.

Participation of the students in this mega library week was noticeable and appreciable. On the day of 24th November, Book Review and Chart Making presentation was done by the students in two categories i.e. from VI toVIII standard where Kr Gumli Romin of std VIII stood first and the position was shared with Kr Samikam Simai Tikhak.In the category of IX to X standard Km Sanu Tamang and Kr Shiva Prasad Medhi stood first and second respectively.In Book Review students reviewed more than 23 books which books were available in the school’s library.

Rangfra day was celebrated in the day of 4th November .

This day was observed in Greater Kharsang Area by Indigenous Faith people with colour and joy.

This year we divided our students into four groups and each group was send to Kuttom(escorted by Sri Putul Dutta and Sri Krishna Kumar Borah), Tinali Mandir( escorted by Sri Rajib Saikia and Sri Gama Singh), Langkhe (escorted by Sri Trilochan Gautom and and Sri Shiva Kant Dudey) and Singsa Village escorted by Sri Anup Yadav and Sri Sujit Dey)

Following activities were done by the groups in their respective locations:

1. Rangfra Bhajans were sung by the students which were followed by the local inhabitants of the villages.
2. The escort teachers delivered speeches on the importance of adhering to the indigenous faiths.
3. Principal was the honoured chief guest invited to Rangfra Temple at Singsha village and District Forest Officer was the guest of honour.

Prasad was distributed by the temple authorities among everyone.

On dated: 11th September 2017, the Universal Brotherhood day is celebrated with great enthusiasm. The MARATHON – Run for Brotherhood was organised at Kharsang to generate the feeling of brotherhood among the society and students, who are the future generation of our country. At 6 a.m., the Flag off for marathon is done by the Principal, VKV-Kharsang. It is conducted from VKV-Kharsang to K B Hospital and back to school, which is approximately 05 kms. The total number of 69 participants from 4 schools participated in this competition.
