
The sacred occasion of Guru Purnima was celebrated with devotion and reverence at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Tezu, in the presence of students, teachers, and esteemed guests.
The program began with 3 Omkars and Shanti Path (Sahanavavatu) beautifully chanted by the students of Class 9, setting a spiritual tone for the day.
This was followed by a welcome address and a brief introduction of the guest priest by our Principal Sir, who also highlighted the significance of the day and the role of Gurus in shaping lives.
Sri Mahesh Kumar Pandey, Sanskrit Teacher, then addressed the gathering on the Importance of Guru Purnima, where he involved all present in the collective chanting of “Om Vedyasaye Namaha” (11 times) and “Guruve Namaha” (5 times), enhancing the spiritual atmosphere.
Our esteemed guest priest, Sohitlum Tawsik ji from Changliang village, was felicitated by the Principal Sir. In his words of wisdom, he shared his journey of becoming a Mishmi Pujari, stating that no formal training is given, but it is through deep inner calling and connection to Dharma that one embraces the role. He also spoke on the importance of Mishmi rituals, especially Namsiang Puja, which is performed for the prosperity and well-being of the people and villages.
A soulful Guru Bhajan was then presented by Uttam Sir and Class 10 girls, followed by a Mishmi Bhajan beautifully sung by Jitemsi Didi, which brought vibrancy and cultural richness to the celebration.
The celebration concluded with a flower offering ritual to Om, the symbol of the Guru, done by the priest, Principal Sir, and Amrit Parivar Sankul members, followed by teachers and students. Class 10 girls also offered flowers at the feet of the priest and Principal Sir, seeking their blessings and showing deep respect.
The program ended with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra, bringing the sacred celebration to a peaceful close.
