Celebration of National Mathematics Day

National Mathematics Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at VKV Tezu on 22nd December 2025, commemorating the birth anniversary of the legendary Indian mathematician, Srinivasa Ramanujan. The event was organized under the aegis of the DDSE, Lohit, aiming to foster mathematical aptitude and curiosity among the student community. The program commenced with a warm welcome address delivered by Sri Champak Kakati, Principal VKV Tezu. He highlighted the significance of the day and encouraged students to view mathematics not just as a subject, but as a language of the universe. The event was graced by Sri P.C. Tiwari, who served as the Resource Person for the day. In his address, Sri P. C Tiwari shared insightful perspectives on Ramanujan’s life and his ground-breaking contributions to number theory and infinite series, inspiring the audience with stories of the mathematician’s resilience and genius. A major highlight of the celebration was the Inter-School Mathematics Quiz Competition, which saw spirited participation from three prominent schools in the region: VKV Tezu (Host School), VKV Tafrogam and GHSS-I, Tezu.
The quiz consisted of multiple rounds covering mental arithmetic, logical reasoning, and the history of Indian mathematics. The participants showcased impressive analytical skills, making the competition a closely contested and intellectually stimulating affair.
GHSS-I secured 1st position in Lohit District, VKV Tezu secured 2nd position, whereas VKV Tafrogam was third in Lohit District.
The celebration successfully ignited a passion for numbers among the attendees. By providing a platform for healthy competition and expert guidance, the DDSE Lohit and VKV Tezu reaffirmed the importance of mathematical literacy in modern education. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and the distribution of certificates to the participating teams.
