CSIR-NEIST branch laboratory, G-Sector, Naharlagun organised 2-days workshop for Science Teachers of different schools. 27 teachers including 10 teachers from different VKVs in Arunachal Pradesh participated in the training programme of active learning techniques for teaching science from 18^th &19^th July 2016. Smt.VIMALA OAK, Teacher Developer, Royal Society of Chemistry was the resource person. Selected teachers from VKV Balijan, Banderdewa,Nirjuli, Itanagar, Vivek Vihar Yazali, Sher & Oyan participated in the Workshop.

During this workshop teachers explored a number of different active learning techniques and discussed the ways which can be implemented into their everyday teaching. The following techniques were taught in the workshop.

A team from SRI RAMACHANDRA MISSION, CHENNAI conducted a 3-days training programme for Heartfulness Meditation to the students and Teachers of VKV, Itanagar from 7th July to 9th July 2016.Heartfulness Meditation is about feeling the lightness and joy of our true nature and experiencing it in our hearts. Heartfulness Meditation brings long lasting change in behaviour and attitudes. Participants also learnt the art of cleaning the accumulated negativities in the mind and experience the stress free, peaceful and joyful life. It also helps the students to excel in studies.

Capt. Vineet Singh Ranawat, Joint Secretary, SRC Mission, Chennai and Smt. Jyoshna Sharma from Delhi guided the participants along with Sri Kina Temik, Zonal Coordinator, Heartfulness Institute Chennai.

250 participants were benefitted by the programme.

The state level 67^th Vanamahotsava programme was organized at VKV, Itanagar by the Department of Environment and Forest, Government of Arunachal Pradesh in collaboration with VKV, Itanagar on 4^th of July. 2016. The programme was conducted in two parts.

1. Mass Tree Species Plantation and
2. Awareness Programme

All the dignitaries were given warm welcome with band. The Chief Secretary inaugurated the function by planting a tree. There were 47 plants planted and 20 metallic plant guards were also fixed. After the inaugural plantation, all the guests and students of VKV, Itanagar along with public gathered at Maa. Eknathji Centenary Memorial Auditorium for the second part of the programme. Sri. Unnikrishnan, Education Officer, VKVAPT and CIC, Papum Pare Cluster presented the Welcome Address in which he highlighted the importance of Vanamahotsava. He also introduced the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour to the audience. He also conveyed the condition of our approach road in a polished way.

A 5 days SARGAM camp was conducted for the selected 20 students and 5 music teachers of VKVs Arunachal Pradesh in VKV Itanagar from 25-29 Jun 2016. Five Students each from VKVs Balijan, Vivek Vihar, Nirjuli and Itanagar participated in the camp. Students and newly selected music teachers were trained in singing Patriotic Songs and Bhajans & Chanting of Prayers and Bhagawad Gita (Chapter 16). In all the participants have learnt 36 different items. The chief trainer was Shri R Krishna Kumar from VKVAPT. The camp was inaugurated by Shri R Krishna Kumar, VKVAPT in a simple function on 25th June 2016. Shri Deepak Chandra Bhatt, Executive Engineer, Central Water Commission graced the valedictory function held at 3.30 on 29th June 2016.

VKV ITANAGAR observed WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY(5th June),WORLD OCEANS’DAY (8thJUNE) and WORLD DAY TO COMBAT DESERTIFICATION AND DROUGHT (17th JUNE), a week long programme in the month of June from 8th to 18th with the following activities, relevant to the topics such as Clean surroundings, Wild life Protection Act and its importance, Healthy ocean, Healthy Planet, Birds and Nests, ‘A glimpse of Ocean life’  for Class-III  to X.

2. Collage making (15 students participated)
3. Speech in the school Assembly (10 students)
4. Drawing and Painting. (325 students participated)

A team of Fire & Emergency Services,Itanagar led by Sri LIYOM SORA,Sub.Fire Officer(S.F.O) conducted a training cum Mock drill on handling fire accidents and save lives in schools.

All the Teachers and 750 students attended the programme and learnt how to prevent and rescue during fire accidents at home, schools and other public places.

ITANAGAR, Feb 06: Twent-five trainee Principals from different districts of the state accompanied by a resource person from Delhi for State Council of Educational Research Training (SCERT) today visited VKV, Itanagar as part of their training programme to know VKV model of teaching and conducting activities for the all-round development of students in the school.

The members visited the library, laboratories and also interacted with the Principal SC Dixit and Staff, shared their views in a programme organised in the school.

Resource person DS Negi appreciated the activities and methodology adopted in the school for effective functioning of teaching-learning process in academic, co-curricular activities and school administration.
